However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
